I’m interrupting my typical wedding and engagement session posts for these urban headshots in Vancouver. DJ Krista Mac is an awesome DJ and a good friend of mine and I was stoked when they asked me to shoot some gritty, urban headshots for them. When I first started shooting weddings and couples, I spent a lot of time shooting in Gastown, so I am always excited when clients ask for urban shoots
Krista suggested utilizing an art installation under the Cambie Street Bridge, Voxel Bridge by artist Jessica Angel, and it totally delivered. While it was tricky to get shots without a bunch of tourists in the background, the bold colours paired with the structure of the bridge made for an awesome impact on our session.
Our last stop ended up being Krista’s favourite location from the shoot – a metal vent in a random apartment building complex. I LOVE textured metal and the vent was perfectly lit by light bouncing off the windows of another apartment building. It’s not often that Vancouver weather works THAT much in your favour!
If you’re not already familiar with DJ Krista Mac, go give them a follow on Instagram and get updates on their next events. You will not be disappointed!
