When Cristie from Umbrella Events first contacted me about this The Garden Strathcona wedding, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I knew one of the brides! Pia and I used to live in suites in the same house and our dogs often played together in the backyard. I was super excited to start my 2022 season with Pia and Emma’s wedding.
These two were faced with a difficult decision a few weeks before their wedding. With COVID restrictions banning wedding receptions until just 4 days before their wedding, they opted to downsize their original plans and had an intimate ceremony and dinner reception with their closest family and friends. East Vancouver is very significant to Emma and Pia and we embraced that during their portraits. We visited Parker Street Studios for some fun urban portraits, then ventured over to the dock at Trout Lake for some variety. We ended our portrait session with a rapid fire shoot in the intersection at Grandview Park. Racing for portraits while the light was red made for lots of fun laughter and movement.
Emma and Pia met their guests for a private kamayan-style feast at Kulinarya. Sitting at a big table covered in leaves and incredible Filipino dishes with them and their guests was such a perfect way to end my first wedding of the season.
Huge thanks to my second shooter, Kaitlin, for helping me with this wedding.
