Shauna About Shauna QueerI am a queer, femme, cis woman living in Besancon with my French spouse. We moved here from Vancouver in December 2022, but not at the same time. I have quite a story about how I finally arrived in France! Cat ladyI have two cats, David and Malo. David is a grumpy granny and Malo is a crazy monster who thinks he is a raccoon. I am a crazy cat lady, but I love animals in general. My love language is definitely capybara videos. Board gamerI matched with my spouse on TWO dating apps before we started talking. We bonded over board games and I still married them even though I am way more competitive and they always win. CreativeI love all things creative and have since I was a child. Aside from photography, I also really enjoy making things. I own an LGBTQ+ greeting card company called That Queer Card Co. Drag obsessedMy favourite Drag Race queens are Yvie Oddly, Trixie Mattel, Eureka, Cheddar Gorgeous, Sasha Velour, and Jinx Monsoon. I miss the Vancouver drag scene and can’t wait to see some French drag! About Photography HistoryI have always been the one taking pictures. I think my interest in being behind the camera was originally born out of my insecurities of being in front of it. I didn’t buy my first DSLR until university though. Formal trainingI once attempted to take a photography program at university and absolutely hated it – I dropped out in less than a month! The program made photography feel too much like science and not enough like art. BusinessI started my business in Vancouver in 2012 when my first choice wedding photographer told me she wouldn’t shoot my queer wedding. I shot portraits for 2 years before I started shooting weddings. LGBTQ+ focusI have been dedicating my business to serving LGBTQ+ couples and families since 2017. I love meeting others in the community and helping to document their love stories and growing families. EducationIn 2018, I spoke at a conference about heteronormativity in the wedding industry. Educating about LGBTQ+ inclusive business practice has become a huge passion project for me.
