I was so excited when Catherine first contacted me about shooting her Olive and Ruby Cafe proposal. It had been a number of years since I had shot a proposal with another photographer, but I had never been asked to shoot a proposal on my own before.
Catherine and Taylor are from Alberta and I was immediately impressed with Catherine’s determination to orchestrate a proposal long distance. When she started talking about her vision for the day, I knew she needed to get a planner involved. This is when I was introduced to Jeanine from Niche Events. Given that Vancouver is rainy at the best of times, and Catherine was planning to propose at the end of September, they booked Olive + Ruby Cafe as the venue for the big surprise.
Taylor was definitely surprised! They had travelled to Vancouver for a concert and it was very obvious that she had NO idea about Catherine’s other plans. It was a very intimate and emotional evening and I’m so grateful Catherine invited me to be part of this significant moment in their relationship.
I can’t wait to shoot more proposals in the future! If you’d like a photographer for your proposal, you should probably contact me.
