Last Monday, I shot this Lost Lagoon engagement session with Julia and Nicole. These two first contacted me about shooting their Royal Vancouver Yacht Club reception after their summer elopement on the Sunshine Coast. With COVID restrictions making everything uncertain, they opted to swap the reception coverage for an engagement session instead.
Julia and Nicole live downtown and regularly go for walks around Lost Lagoon. I have lived in Vancouver for a long time, and have shot in Stanley Park many times as a photographer, but these two were more familiar with the park than anyone I’ve ever met! I love when couples choose sentimental locations for their engagement sessions because it adds an important layer of context to the shoot.
We could not have asked for a more perfect evening – it wasn’t raining, the light was incredible, and it wasn’t TOO hot. We started the session near the beach, wandered around the lagoon and into the forest, visited a bench that was significant to Julia’s family, and ended the session with the sun setting at Second Beach. Our evening was full of laughs, dodging countless walkers and joggers, and forehead kisses and their resulting lipstick stains. How adorable are Julia and Nicole?!
