That's all, folks! Steph and Adam's wedding was such a lovely way to end my season and my career in weddings. But don't go anywhere! I'm not done with photography. The fall is always a busy time for portrait work and this month is no different.

I am literally about to jump in a Lyft to my last wedding ever. Today's memory is about the time I stole the mic.

My favourite compliment at weddings has always been "We forgot you were here." My goal was always to be the least obtrusive I could be. I didn't want my couples to remember the photographer at their wedding.

But at Stephen and Daniel's wedding, I asked for the mic during speeches. Stephen and I met when I was going through my divorce and drowning myself in board games. He was the tiny guy with the huge laugh and all the baked goods. I had never known someone whose laugh could rival mine, and we would find ourselves in fits of loud, obnoxious laughter together often. It was such an honour to be present at his wedding when he had brought me so much light in the darkest time of my life.

So yeah, there you have it. I am 100% committed to being a fly on the wall at your wedding unless you're my friend, because then all bets are off. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Holy shit, folks. My last wedding is tomorrow! Super stoked to be wrapping my wedding career with an awesome couple in East Van, at my favourite venue (@heritagehallvancouver), with my other half in this industry (@winkphotography).

My sixth memory of this season was my favourite speech. Heather and Zack got married at Camp Fircom on Gambier Island and Heather gave an incredible speech about her fear of being too much.

It hit me straight in the feels as it's something I have worried about a lot myself. I give things 500%, I care about people too much, I laugh too loud, I am too competitive, I am too silly... I am so beyond grateful to have found a spouse who loves me in all of my too much-ness, and I am so happy that Heather and Zack found each other.

I feel like Heather's smile in this photo reminds me a lot of my smile in my own wedding photos. Bold, loud, unapologetic, and entirely not too much. 💗

Final wedding season memory number four: spending one of the hottest days of the summer on a golf course with two grooms in suits.

Kurt and Constantine got married over Pride weekend at Furry Creek and the weather was not messing around. These two were absolute legends because I spent the day in a dress and only survived by constantly spraying myself down with water.

Would it really be a countdown without a dancing photo?! This one is from my last hora with Rachael and Bryan.

It's no secret that dancing is my favourite part of the wedding day to shoot. Rachael and Bryan had a giant Jewish wedding and their hora did not disappoint. Why can't all wedding receptions start with everyone on the dance floor? It totally trumps opening with the boring MC announcements (Charlie Brown teacher anyone?) and sets the tone for the rest of the night.
