Helene and Leela contacted me about shooting their Acadia Beach wedding as they are friends with both Lau and Meg and Vanessa and Katrina. Helene plays in the same dodgeball and softball leagues I do, and we share a mutual love of all things board games, so we immediately had a lot to talk about when we first met for coffee.
I loved how low key these two were in their wedding planning process. (They didn’t decide on what they were wearing until very shortly before their wedding day!) The focus was entirely on celebrating with their friends and family and sharing some of their favourite things with their guests. Their brunch ceremony featured the best pastries from all over Vancouver – literally! They had pastries from 4 or 5 different bakeries! For their reception, they treated their guests to a wine and cheese evening at Les Amis Du Fromage. They had a powerful land acknowledgement in their ceremony, their family and friends made incredible speeches, did readings and played music, and their dog charmed all of their guests. It was truly an honour to be part of their big day.
Huge thanks to my second shooter, Kaitlin, for helping me with this wedding!
